Installation considerations
1. Verify complete power de-energization before commencing installation. Any work on active electrical systems is categorically prohibited.
2. For optimal protection, incorporate series-connected overcurrent protection (fuse or breaker) preceding the surge suppression device.
3. Installation wiring must strictly comply with the provided schematic:
- DC+ = Positive terminal
- DC- = Negative terminal
- PE = Protective earth ground
Ensure proper terminal identification to prevent wiring errors. Post-installation, energize the system by engaging the protective device (breaker/fuse) and confirm proper operational indicators.
4. Finalize installation by securing the module in its designated location and performing functional validation of the surge protection system.
5. Implement scheduled maintenance inspections including:
- Visual examination of the diagnostic indicator
- Verification of alarm contact status
Immediate replacement is mandatory upon detection of:
- Red fault indicator illumination
- Alarm signal activation
6. Parallel surge protection configurations require:
- True parallel circuit implementation
- Properly torqued connections
- Minimum-length conductors
- Adequate wire gauge (AWG)
- Direct routing without unnecessary bends
